Preparing to inspect a used bike or bicycle
Check condition, ownership and safe handover before buying a locally advertised bike or bicycle.

Confirm exactly what is offered
Ask about the model, usage, repairs, accessories and known problems. Distant or unclear photos cannot reveal every fault; arrange an in-person inspection.
Inspect mechanical condition
Inspect brakes, tyres, wheels, lights and controls. For motor vehicles, seek an experienced mechanic's help. Any test ride should take place only where safe and permitted.
Ownership and handover
Where applicable, verify ownership documents, the seller's right to sell and the required transfer arrangements. Listing approval is not a substitute for those checks. Do not proceed under pressure over questionable documents or advance payments.
